The Kallang Riverside Park was transformed into a cyclocross race course yesterday for 100 cyclists, who navigated muddy obstacles during the event.

Yesterday's competition saw participants take part in eight categories on a 1.2km, obstacle-strewn course on grass and paved roads.

Organised by Cyclocross Singapore, it also attracted riders from Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines for the first time.

Cyclocross, a form of bike racing on a multi-terrain course, features obstacles that require riders to dismount and carry their bikes while navigating the course.

The obstacles include slopes, stairs, loops and barriers - a set of two wooden planks that run horizontally across the course.
