He remembers sitting next to a member of the International Olympic Council (IOC) at the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Grand Slam Latin in Moscow last month, and the questions that were posed to him made his jaw drop.

Shawn Tay was appointed the first Singaporean president of the WDSF on Nov 17 in Vienna, rising through the ranks since the 1980s and serving as vice-president before given the top post.
