The Great Eastern Women's Run (GEWR) will end at the Singapore Sports Hub for the first time this year, as part of several new offerings in celebration of Great Eastern's 110th anniversary.

Previous editions of the run took place at the Marina Bay Floating Platform.

A new 110m sprint category will also be introduced to mark the milestone. Participants aged 13 and above will race on the National Stadium track.

The other categories for the Oct 14 event are the half-marathon, 10km, 5km, 2km Mummy + Me run for girls aged seven to 12 and their mothers, and the Princess Dash for girls aged three to six.

Former schools sprinter Keifa Teo welcomed the addition of the new category.

"I'm not a long-distance runner, (so) it's really nice that there's this option of a 110m sprint," said the 21-year-old account executive, adding that she would be keen to participate in the event with her former track team-mates.

A new route has been planned for the 13th edition of the GEWR, starting from Nicoll Highway and finishing at a race village at the National Stadium.

Said Great Eastern's head of group brand and marketing Keith Chia: "We trust these will enhance the whole race experience and create more Live Great moments. We look forward to more joining us as we continue to champion health and wellness in the community."

Great Eastern has also introduced two health and wellness apps, which GEWR participants can use to earn points and rewards.

Singapore Sports Hub chief commercial officer Adam Firth congratulated Great Eastern on its 110th anniversary, adding: "We look forward to welcoming thousands of participating ladies, as well as their supporters, families and friends to the Singapore Sports Hub to enjoy the extraordinary experience of running in and around the National Stadium."

The registration launch takes place on May 31 and June 1. The first 110 people to register at the May 31 launch will enjoy a special registration fee of $11 for any category.

They will also receive a goodie bag with products worth more than $100 in total from new apparel partner Reebok.
