SINGAPORE - Hosts Singapore beat Canada 62-26 at the Mission Foods Nations Cup on Tuesday (Sept 6), bouncing back after losing to Botswana last night.

The home side started strongly to finish the first quarter 20-8 up.

Both sides scored evenly early in the second quarter, but Singapore pulled ahead with deft passing and intercepting to lead 35-14 at half-time.

The Republic's dominant form continued in the second half, going up 4-0 in both quarters before their opponents scored.

Despite Canada's persistence, Singapore's sizeable lead gave them the win.

The 17th-ranked hosts, will face 15th-ranked Papua New Guinea on Wednesday (Sept 7).

Canada will meet Nations Cup newcomers Zambia, who remain undefeated in the six-nation tournament.

Each team has two more round-robin matches to play, and the top two will face off during the finals on Saturday (Sept 10).
