Singapore continued their good start at the netball Nations Cup, making it two wins on the trot by narrowly beating Papua New Guinea (PNG) 44-43 on Monday night.

Both sides were evenly-matched, going goal for goal and neither sides building a lead greater than three goals throughout the match.

Said Singapore co-vice captain Nurul Baizura, who played in centre: "We expected a tough fight against PNG, but we kept to the game plan, keeping to our usual style of a flat, fast game."

PNG are the highest-ranked team in the six-nation tournament at No. 18. Singapore are ranked 21st. The Republic play Asian rivals Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
