The Singapore national netball team were beaten 50-41 by Samoa in the Nations Cup final on Saturday afternoon, finishing runners-up for the second year running.
The hosts started brightly and even went into the half-time break with a six-point lead over their Oceania rivals, but lost the lead quickly in the second half when the Samoans' stellar defending left the Singapore attack with few options.
Samoa, the top-ranked team in the six-team tournament at world No. 14, are unbeaten this year. Singapore, which finished second to Uganda last year, are ranked No. 19. In their round-robin encounter earlier in the week, Singapore were also beaten 53-47.
In the day's other matches, Botswana clinched third place after beating Malaysia 44-41. Papua New Guinea took fifth place after beating Ireland 58-33.
