TEAM-MATES when Singapore won a Malaysian league and cup Double in 1994, Fandi Ahmad and Nazri Nasir will join forces again 20 years later - at the helm of the LionsXII.
Former national captain Nazri was confirmed on Monday as assistant to Fandi - nine days after he was confirmed as successor to V. Sundramoorthy.
"It's like a dream to work with Fandi as a coach," Nazri said in a statement issued by the Football Association of Singapore.
The 42-year-old played under Fandi at Singapore Armed Forces FC (now known as Warriors FC) from 2000-2002.
After hanging up his boots, he joined the FAS as a National Football Academy coach.
"It is a huge step-up, definitely," Nazri said of his new appointment.
"The LionsXII will be a different ball game. I hope to earn their respect rather than making them listen to me because of my authority as a coach."
