National sailors to feature in Singapore leg of the Extreme Sailing Series

Team Singapore will be represented at the Extreme Sailing Series, a top international sailing event, when it comes to the Marina Bay on April 11 to 14 for the second of eight stages in this year's series.

The five-men team, which will include national sailors Scott Glen Sydney, 22, Justin Wong, 27, and three other foreign crew members, are sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management - which has inked a three-year deal with organisers OC Sport. The deal also includes staging the race here for the next three years.

This marks the first time that the Republic will be represented in the Extreme 40 catamaran race, which had previously featured the likes of Austria's double Olympic gold medallist Roman Hagara.

Said Sydney, who will be captain of Team Aberdeen Singapore: "This is an immense opportunity and I hope to use this experience to become a more well-rounded sailor."
