Mok Ying Ren meets SEA Games marathon qualifying mark at Gold Coast Marathon

Singapore marathon runner Mok Ying Ren met the qualifying mark for December's South-east Asia Games in Myanmar, after coming in seventh in Sunday's Gold Coast Marathon.

His time of 2hr 26min 30sec was over a minute faster than Indonesian runner Yahuza's gold-medal effort of 2:27.45 from the 2011 Palembang and Jakarta Games.

The 2007 SEA Games triathlon gold medallist is optimistic that he can still improve in time for the biennial Games.

"I'm definitely going for a medal. Honestly, I don't think it will be a problem at all," said the 25-year-old.
