When it comes to academic work, Zachary Ian Tan readily admits: "I'm not the biggest fan of studying even though I need to."

Speak to the 14-year-old about swimming, however, and he rattles off facts faster than they can be Googled. The recently retired Daniel Gyurta won world titles in the 200m breaststroke in 2009, 2011 and 2013. The last four men's 100m freestyle Olympic champions swam in Lane 5.
