Paddlers off to bad start with 7 defeats

Singapore's table tennis teams lost all seven of their round robin matches yesterday.

The men's class 10 team fell 1-3 to Thailand while their team-mates in the men's 3, 4-5, 9 and women's 1-5 classes all suffered 3-0 defeats. The preliminary round at the OCBC Arena Hall 1 ends today.

No joy for S'pore men, women goalballers

A solid performance by Joan Hung, who scored four goals, was not enough to prevent the Singapore women's goalball team from losing their Asean Para Games opener against Myanmar yesterday.

The hosts went down 5-7 at Marina Bay Sands.

The Singapore men fared much worse, losing badly by 4-14 to Laos in the morning and 3-13 to Indonesia in the afternoon. Both games did not go the distance as the difference had reached 10.

Myanmar, Thailand strong in CP football

Defending champions Myanmar enjoyed an impressive start to their cerebral palsy (CP) football title defence by thrashing Malaysia 7-2 in a round-robin match played yesterday at the National Stadium.

Thailand recorded their second win in as many matches in the five-nation tournament. Their seven-a-side team cruised to a 5-0 victory over debutants Indonesia in a later game.
