Two of Singapore's top ice-skaters will be participating in the world championships this weekend.
Lucas Ng, 27, will be taking part in the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships from March 11-13 in Seoul, South Korea. The top national short-track speed skater will be looking to follow up with his impressive three-gold haul at the Tri-Series SEA Cup with a strong showing in Seoul.
Ng has been training under four-time Olympic gold medallist Chun Lee Kyung since November 2015. This is the fifth time he has qualified for the world championships.
Fellow ice-skater Yu Shuran is looking to make her mark at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Debrecen, Hungary, from March 14-20. The 16-year-old, who is currently based in Beijing, juggles both training and school. This is the second time she has qualified for the championships. In last year's event, she attained a 24th-place finish.
Both athletes are hoping to do well at this year's championships leading up to the 2017 SEA Games, where ice-skating and ice-hockey will be included for the first time.
