Ice hockey to be held at JCube rink

The Lion City Cup ice hockey tournament will be held from tomorrow until Saturday at The Rink at JCube.

The 11th edition of the annual event will feature 15 teams (including three women's teams) from seven countries. Besides the hosts, teams from Russia, Finland, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Korea and Australia will compete across four divisions.

A total of 19 teams from seven nations took part in last year's tournament.

In the Asian division, Korean outfit Suwon Eagles will be the favourites to repeat their triumph from last year.

Russian team CCCP Totachi will be making their debut in the International division.

All four finals will take place on Saturday afternoon.

Singapore's national men's team will skip this year's competition as they are focusing on the Challenge Cup of Asia tournament from March 12-18 in Abu Dhabi.

Winter sports such as ice hockey and ice skating are set to make their SEA Games debuts in Malaysia next year.
