HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens: Win cash, tickets by designing S'pore 7s logo

By tapping into their creative juices, local rugby fans could win attractive prizes for next year's inaugural HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens.

The April 16-17 tournament, which will be staged at the National Stadium, will be the eighth leg of the hugely popular World Rugby Sevens Series.

The organisers have come up with a logo design competition for the event. It will run from today until Sept 30, and the winning entry will receive $1,500 in cash and six pairs of two-day tickets.

Three consolation prize-winners will receive four pairs of tickets, while five lucky-draw participants of the online vote will each receive a pair of tickets.

The contest is open only to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents and each entrant may submit up to three designs.

Each submission must be accompanied by a description, up to 150 words, to explain their design.

A panel of judges, including from The Straits Times, will select the winning entries. All winners will be announced on Oct 16, the same day as ticket go on sale.

This is the first time in 10 years that the Republic will host the prestigious eight-month long Sevens' Series.

It features the world's top 16 national teams playing the shorter and faster sevens rugby, which will make its Olympic debut next year.

Slated to be held in Singapore for the next four years, the Sports Hub will welcome heavyweights like New Zealand, Australia and England over the two-day extravaganza, with organisers targeting a daily crowd of 25,000.
