The race for the $3 million Singapore Airlines International Cup was thrown wide open after favourite Pastorius was handed an unfavourable barrier position ahead of Sunday's showpiece.
The four-year old German colt drew Barrier 11 in the 13-horse race at the post-position draw on Thursday afternoon.
Leading out the 2,000m race from a position closest to the rail is Hong Kong-trained gelding Dan Excel, which will have a slight advantage over horses placed further away from the rail as they will need to cover a longer distance.
Singapore's best hope, Better Life, will come out from Barrier 6.
In the $1 million KrisFlyer International Sprint, Dux Scholar claimed the prized Barrier 1 spot, while local favourite Super Easy, which won the Lion City Cup last month, drew Barrier 6.
