HONG Kong raider Dan Excel emerged victorious at the $3-million Singapore Airlines International (SIA) Cup at the Kranji racecourse on Sunday evening.
The seven-year-old galloper finished in a time of 2min 1.52sec to retain his title, pipping Military Attack (2:01.59) by half a length in the 2,000m race.
Singapore hope Quechua, prepared by South African trainer Patrick Shaw, finished third in 2:02.07.
Earlier, Hong Kong's Aerovelocity captured the $1-million KrisFlyer International Sprint.
The six-year-old gelding, with jockey Zac Purton astride, finished the 1,200-metre race in a time of 1min 9.05sec, 11/2 lengths ahead of second-place Emperor Max, who finished in 1:09.31.
Back-to-back winner Lucky Nine finished third in 1:09.44.
