Hockey: Dutch simply too strong for Germans in TPG Tri-Series rematch

SINGAPORE - The Netherlands' women's hockey team racked up the goals in the penultimate match of The Project Group International Tri-Series with a 3-0 win over world No. 8 Germany at Sengkang Stadium on Friday evening.

A brace from forward Ginella Zerbo and a third from forward Lidewij Welten in the first half helped put the visibly frustrated Germans to the sword. The teams previously played out a goal-less draw on Tuesday.

Germany end the three-team round-robin tournament without a win.

The Dutch, the reigning Olympic and world champions who are also ranked first in the world, will play Australia in the triangular's final game on Saturday evening.

The Netherlands had beaten the world No. 3 Hockeyroos 2-0 on Wednesday.

The match is at 7pm at the Sengkang Hockey Stadium. Entry is free.
