LOS ANGELES - Anna Nordqvist will not be putting her ShopRite LPGA Classic trophy on display just yet after the massive glass cup reached her home in pieces.
"Well thank you @fedex for delivering my @shopriteLPGAClassic winning in a thousand pieces," she tweeted on Thursday, with a picture of the broken trophy in its box alongside one of her hoisting it on the course in New Jersey last month.
The 28-year-old golfer's victory on May 31 was her fifth LPGA title in seven years, and her mother was on hand to share the joy on Swedish Mother's Day.
"I'm just speechless," she said after beating Christel Boeljon for the title - and she felt the same upon seeing the ruined award.
"No words to describe it," Nordqvist tweeted, although a representative of couriers FedEx was quick to offer help, as were tournament organisers, who promised her a new trophy.
After the surprise wore off, Nordqvist found a bright side to the mishap.
"I told my team I was going to share my win with them," she tweeted. "Now, they can all have a piece of the trophy."
