Golf: South Korea's Jang wins Taiwan LPGA title narrowly despite six-shot advantage

TAIPEI (AFP) - South Korea's Jang Ha Na carded a one-under 71 on Sunday for a 17-under total of 271 to secure a one-shot victory at the LPGA Taiwan Championship.

She battled strong wind and rain to end the final round with three birdies and two bogeys at the tournament at Miramar Golf and Country Club in New Taipei City.

Jang held off a powerful charge from China's Feng Shanshan, thanks to a six-shot lead she kept after firing a flawless 10-under 62 on Saturday to set her best personal scoring record and tie the tournament course record.

Feng scored a 66 in the final round to finish with a tournament total of 272.

It was Jang's third victory of the 2016 season.

Canada's Brooke Henderson and Kim Hyo Joo of South Korea tied for third place at 10 under.

Chinese Taipei's Candie Kung, Lee-Anne Pace of South Africa and South Korea's Park Hee Young shared fifth place at nine-under.

Defending champion Lydia Ko of New Zealand was tied for 20th at three-under.
