SINGAPORE - Singapore's Joshua Ho carded an eight-under 64 on the opening day of the Putra Cup at the Gading Raya Padang Golf and Club in Jakarta on Tuesday (Sept 5).

Ho, 23, had 10 birdies and two bogeys as he carved out a one-stroke lead over Thailand's Kosuke Hamamoto and Hein Sithu of Myanmar in the individual competition.

All four Singaporean representatives, who were part of the SEA Games squad that won the gold medal in Kuala Lumpur, are in the top 10.

Marc Ong is tied for fifth after shooting a 67, with last year's individual winner Gregory Foo joint sixth with 68. Joshua Shou is tied for ninth after shooting a 69.

Singapore lead the six-team competition by two strokes. Thailand are second on 201 while Indonesia are third on 207.

This is the 57th instalment of the Putra Cup, which is part of the annual South East Asia Amateur Golf Team Championship.

Thailand won the team event last year and Singapore were runners-up.

The competition will conclude on Friday.
