DP World Tour suspends Marco Penge for violating gambling policy

An independent disciplinary panel found that England's Marco Penge placed bets on multiple golf events.

LONDON - The DP World Tour suspended England’s Marco Penge on Dec 18 after an independent disciplinary panel found that he placed bets on multiple golf events.
Penge, 26, will serve a three-month ban that began on Dec 13.
However, one month has been suspended for one year pending further breaches of the integrity programme.
He is eligible to return to action on Feb 13, 2025.
Penge was also fined approximately US$2,500 (S$3,400).
Per the European circuit, Penge “did not bet on himself or on the progress of tournaments during days when he was participating, leading the panel to find that the integrity of such events had not been compromised.”
The panel also noted that Penge’s “immediate admission of breach and cooperation throughout the investigation warranted mitigation reflected in the eventual sanction imposed.”
Ranked 414th in the world, Penge missed 19 cuts in 28 events this year.
He most recently played at the Australian Open in November, finishing in a tie for 27th place. FIELD LEVEL MEDIA
