Alexander Rossi, 23, had a baptism of fire on his F1 debut for tail-enders Manor Marussia when he hit the barriers at Turn 18 with three minutes to go before the end of the 90-minute first practice session. The American, flown in at short notice to replace Spaniard Roberto Merhi, managed to complete 18 laps at the back of the field before he crashed.
