Lewis Hamilton took the first step toward bouncing back from his ninth-place finish at the Italian Grand Prix the last time out, as he clocked the fastest lap in the first practice session of the Formula One SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.
The 2009 race winner clocked 1min 47.055sec in his Mercedes on Friday evening to deliver a statement of intent to his rivals.
The Briton was followed closely by the two Red Bulls - Mark Webber was second and defending champion Sebastian Vettel third, with times of 1:47.420 and 1:47.885 respectively.
Hamilton's Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg rounded off the top four finishers in P1, as he clocked 1:48.239. The second practice session will begin at 9pm.
