SINGAPORE - One week. That was all that separated the Force India team from keeping their racing dreams alive or falling off the cliff and becoming a footnote in Formula One history.

While he was all smiles as he met The Sunday Times at his team's motorhome at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Force India chief executive officer and team principal Otmar Szafnauer revealed just how bleak the picture was in July when the team nearly had to wind up in the face of pressure from creditors.
