TERRY FOR BIRMINGHAM?

Birmingham City are increasingly hopeful of being able to sign former Chelsea captain John Terry.

Harry Redknapp, the Birmingham manager, wants to add experience to a side who narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship last season. He said that he expects to sign about five players on free transfers and Terry, whom he has long admired, fits that criterion.

Birmingham also signed goalkeeper David Stockdale from Brighton Hove and Albion - who are playing in the English Premier League next season - on a three-year-deal yesterday.

MAN UTD TO SIGN PERISIC

Manchester United are confident of landing Inter Milan forward Ivan Perisic to add to their prospective signing of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata over the next week.

According to The Independent, Perisic, 28, has agreed personal terms with United with Inter hopeful of a £50 million (S$88 million) fee for the Croatian.

BLUES EYE CABALLERO

Chelsea are set to sign former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero, according to ESPN.

The Blues are seeking a replacement for Asmir Begovic, who left for Bournemouth earlier this month.

The 35-year-old Argentinian Caballero was out of contract at the end of last season and is now likely to be the backup goalkeeper at Chelsea, behind No. 1 Thibaut Courtois.
