New Philippine coach's presence in dugout morale booster for players, fans in campaign

There are big names and there are big names. Sven-Goran Eriksson is the latter.

Keen to shed their image as a footballing outpost, where basketball, boxing and even cockfighting rouse more fan interest, the Philippines made arguably the biggest coaching appointment in South-east Asia by naming Sven-Goran Eriksson as their head coach.
