With a population of less than 350,000, Iceland's meteoric rise in football has drawn questions here as to why Singapore cannot follow suit, with both nations hemmed in by limited human resources.

Sigurdur Ragnar Eyjolfsson will insist that it is possible to taste success as he throws his name into the hat for the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) technical director position, which is vacant after Belgian Michel Sablon left last month.
