S'pore to take part in Battle of the Masters

The Battle of the Masters organisers, Masters Football Asia, announced the addition of the Singapore Masters team yesterday.

Former Singapore national footballers such as Fandi Ahmad, current national coach V. Sundram Moorthy, Malek Awab and Aleksandar Duric will face the Arsenal Masters and Liverpool Masters at the National Stadium on Nov 11.

Ticket prices start from $20 and they can be purchased from mastersfootball.com and sportshubtix.com.

Barcelona ties Messi down until 2021

BARCELONA • Lionel Messi has agreed to stay at Barcelona until 2021 in a deal that all but commits the 30-year-old star forward to playing out the rest of his top-flight career at the Spanish giants.

No financial details of the new contract were disclosed, but Spain's Marca sports daily reported that the bumper deal included a €300 million (S$470 million) termination clause.
