Home fight back to force 2-2 draw

Home United drew 2-2 with Philippine side Global FC in the first leg of the AFC Cup Asean zone semi-finals in Manila last night.

Goals from Adam Swandi (33rd minute) and Stipe Plazibat (95th minute) allowed the visitors to draw level twice. The second leg will be played at Jalan Besar Stadium on May 30.


Chew 7th at Windsor Horse Show

National equestrienne Caroline Chew posted a creditable finish at the Royal Windsor Horse Show last weekend, finishing seventh in the Grand Prix Dressage competition of the prestigious event.

Riding Tribiani, a 13-year-old gelding, the 25-year-old posted 68.750 points in the field of 12 that included world-class riders such as Briton Carl Hester, a two-time Olympic medallist. Hosts Britain swept the podium with Hester winning with 74.600. Hayley Watson-Greaves was second on 70.900 with Gareth Hughes third on 70.660.


Falcao, Coentrao face tax lawsuit

MADRID • Spanish prosecutors said yesterday they had filed a lawsuit against Radamel Falcao and Fabio Coentrao, accusing them of hiding almost €7 million (S$10.8 million) from the tax office between 2012 and 2014.

Colombian Falcao has been accused of failing to properly declare a total of around €5.6 million earned from image rights. Portugal's Coentrao is accused of failing to correctly declare almost €1.3 million and earnings from image rights.

Injured Kyrgios out of Italian Open

ROME • Nick Kyrgios withdrew from the Italian Open yesterday with a hip injury, casting doubt over his participation in next week's French Open. The Australian needed hip treatment during his first-round win over Marcos Baghdatis in Spain last week.
