Dressing room teasing will ease Berahino back

LONDON • West Bromwich Albion's Saido Berahino has faced some dressing room banter about his threat to go on strike after a failed transfer, but it will help the unsettled striker reintegrate into the squad, captain Darren Fletcher has said.

The 22-year-old Berahino was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur throughout the summer transfer window, with the Baggies reportedly rejecting four bids from the North London club, including two on deadline day.

Malone, former NBA MVP, dead at 60

WASHINGTON • Moses Malone, a three-time National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player who played for nine professional teams in a 21-year career, died on Sunday at age 60, apparently of a heart attack.

Nicknamed "Chairman of the Boards" for his superb rebounding skills and "Big Mo" for his 2.08m frame, Malone led the 1982-83 Philadelphia 76ers to the NBA title in his only championship campaign.

Yapp loses 2nd group match at World C'ship

DOHA • Singapore national pool player Aloysius Yapp, 19, lost 7-9 to England's Mark Gray in his second group match of the World Nine-ball Champion ship yesterday.

Yapp will need to win his final match today against Kuwait's Omar Al Shaheen to advance to the knockout stage.
