Here's what I'd do with the Young Lions. Not just the nine footballers who allegedly broke curfew, but all of them. I'd buy them a copy of a book, Inspired by Steve Redgrave, and ask them to turn to page 72.

Redgrave is a great rower, a man of water not land, but he's in a team, too, sometimes pairs, sometimes foursomes. In 1997, he's at a training camp, 35 years old, a diabetic with ulcerative colitis who feels so drained, so damaged, he trails his teammates in every training session. And now in the hills, his cycle punctures.
