S-League title sponsor Great Eastern has raised $83,700 for the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF) in conjunction with last night's Community Shield match at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Prior to the match, a friendly tournament was held for 240 children from 24 teams, each team comprising four young footballers supported by SPMF, with the others from S-League club academies.
There was also an exhibition match between the national cerebral palsy football team and ex-internationals such as Fandi Ahmad and Aleksandar Duric.
Great Eastern's chief executive Khoo Kah Siang presented the cheque to SPMF board of trustees member Han Jok Kwang after the S-League's opener, which ended 3-2 in favour of the White Swans.
