Spanish armada consigned to the doldrums

The old song has it that "it ain't what you do, it's the way that you do it" and Spain "did it" - or rather "didn't do it" - so badly that they now, deservedly, join the likes of Germany, Argentina and Portugal in being able to "enjoy" the rest of this intriguing World Cup from the commodious comforts of their own living rooms.

Tiki-taka (that loathsome, lazy, two-word sound bite used to define a footballing philosophy that dominated the game over two European crowns and one World Championship) is more dead than Monty Python's proverbial parrot, comes the cry.
