The Myanmar Under-23 football team will be looking to build on an impressive start to their SEA Games campaign when they take on the Singapore U-23s in the teams' second Group A match at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Thursday evening.

Despite recording a convincing 4-2 victory over the Indonesia U-23 on Tuesday, coach Kyi Lwin has called for an improved performance against the hosts.

"Our players put in a lot of effort in the first match , but we can do better and I have told the players that too," said Kyi through a translator.

Myanmar will be disadvantaged by a shorter recovery period as compared to the Singapore side. Aide Iskandar's Young Lions beat the Philippines 1-0 at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Monday and will have two days of rest going into the encounter against the White Angels who have had one day less to recover and prepare.

But, Kyi, who won a silver medal in the 1993 SEA Games as a player, is adamant that fatigue will not affect his side.

He said: "This is the SEA Games and in this competition, it is normal to have little rest between games.

"My players are confident and ready for tomorrow."
