Liverpool have got themselves a bargain, as the 29-year-old England midfielder will add experience, work rate and versatility into the midfield void created by the departure of club icon Steven Gerrard.

DANNY INGS

(£6 million, from Burnley)

The 22-year-old will add strength and power to the Reds forward line but there are doubts whether he is the prolific striker Liverpool are crying out for.

ADAM BOGDAN

(Free, from Bolton)

The 27-year-old Hungarian is no more than a back-up to No.1 goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

JOE GOMEZ

(£3.5 million, from Charlton)

The 18-year-old English centre-back is likened to a young Ledley King and is tipped to have a bright future. Likely to go out on loan straight away.

ROBERTO FIRMINO

(£29 million, from Hoffenheim)

The fleet-footed Brazilian favours playing as a No. 10, while roles as a wide forward or even deeper in midfield can also bring out the best in him. Boasts 23 goals and 21 assists after two seasons as a midfielder in the German top flight.
