1 LACAZETTE BEREFT OF CONFIDENCE
Arsene Wenger's interpretation of Edvard Munch's Scream as Alexandre Lacazette dragged the chance of a last-minute equaliser wide during the 1-0 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur spoke volumes.
This is a difficult period for the Arsenal striker, usurped in the starting XI by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Frenchman is low on confidence and his form (just one goal in his last 13 games) is a worry as he is the main choice for the Europa League, with Aubameyang ineligible.
2 SCHNEIDERLIN AN UNWITTING TARGET
Morgan Schneiderlin came on to a chorus of boos in the comfortable 3-1 win against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park. Everton manager Sam Allardyce said he was surprised by the reception but was not exactly overflowing with sympathy for the midfielder. But on social media, many fans claimed the jeers were for Allardyce's decision not to bring on striker Cenk Tosun at 3-0.
3 SOUTHAMPTON IN FREE FALL
While Huddersfield, Newcastle and Swansea enjoyed wins, Southampton's slide continued as Mauricio Pellegrino's men were swept aside 2-0 by Liverpool. A run of just one win in their last 14 league outings has seen the Saints slip into the bottom three.
An unwillingness to spend the £75 million (S$137.8 million) bounty they received from Virgil van Dijk's move to Liverpool last month could come back to cost the Southampton hierarchy as they are missing the Dutchman in defence.
