LONDON - The biggest spenders are in the relegation zone. Some of the smallest are in the Champions League places.

If the money list from the Premier League's January transfer window was distorted by the combination of Newcastle's takeover and their desperation to avoid the drop, they spent more, at £90 million (S$164.3 million), than the top four did between them.
