By far the biggest game of football played in the world tonight is the re-opening of Dutch -German rivalry at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam.

The enmity dates back to Nazi occupation of the Netherlands during World War II. In sporting terms, the feelings were compounded in 1974 when Franz Beckenbauer led West Germany to beat the Dutch Total Football ideal of Cruyff 2-1 in the World Cup final in Munich.
