By the time Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba cavorted around the stadium in Moscow with the World Cup trophy last Sunday, Cristiano Ronaldo and his entourage had arrived by private jet in Turin.

That night belonged to the Nouveau Bleus of France. The next day, Ronaldo made the move from Real Madrid to Juventus which, in his own words, showed that "I'm different to all the others who go to China or Qatar at my age."
