Former player Murphy says Reds boss must justify heavy spending and fast start is key

Among the English Premier League "Big Six", Liverpool have made the biggest statement of intent in the transfer window.

The Reds splashed the cash to make Alisson the world's most expensive goalkeeper at £65 million (S$117 million) and signed midfielders Naby Keita (£52 million), Fabinho (£43 million) and Xherdan Shaqiri (£13 million).
