He was just 13 the last time England made the semi-finals of a major tournament, and Joleon Lescott remembers the feeling of the ground falling out from beneath him when Gareth Southgate's penalty found only the gloves of German goalkeeper Andreas Kopke.

But Lescott believes the same man who broke English hearts with that miss at Euro 1996 could well set the entire nation alight this week.
