Goetze to reunite with ex-boss?

LONDON • Mario Goetze has refused to rule out a reunion with Juergen Klopp at Liverpool in the event that he is told he has no future at Bayern Munich.

The 23-year-old midfielder will enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer and Klopp is thought to be interested in signing a player with whom he won successive Bundesliga titles at Borussia Dortmund.

Goetze has struggled with injuries and indifferent form since scoring the winning goal for Germany in the 2014 World Cup final.

When asked about working with Klopp again, Goetze said: "I'm under contract here until 2017. We will see what happens after the season ends. No one has contacted me yet."

With Carlo Ancelotti replacing Pep Guardiola, with whom he has had an uneasy relationship, as coach at the end of the season, Goetze wants to wait before making a decision on his long-term future.

"I need to know the plans of Ancelotti," he said.

"I know Juergen Klopp very well, our cooperation was outstanding. I worked for a long time under him and he's a very good coach.

"I have not thought about my future much due to my recent injuries, but nothing has been decided yet. I want to play. Everything else, we'll see in the summer."
