MOSCOW (AFP) - French midfielder Mathieu Valbuena will miss at least two of Dynamo Moscow's upcoming games after undergoing an appendectomy, the club's sporting director Guram Adzhoev said on Wednesday.

"Mathieu (Valbuena) felt acute pain Monday night," he said.

"Our doctors reacted quickly and rushed him into the hospital where he underwent successful surgery.

"Valbuena is still in the hospital. It's hard to predict the exact period of his complete recovery, but I think he will definitely miss the next two matches."

On Thursday, Dynamo will face Greek club Panathinaikos in their opening Europa League group match in Athens.

The 29-year-old Valbuena has scored two goals and collected five assists in eight matches with the Moscow club since joining last month.
