MADRID (REUTERS) - Real Madrid have signed forward Rodrygo Goes from Brazilian side Santos with the 17-year-old set to join the LaLiga club in July 2019, both teams confirmed on Friday (June 15).

Goes made his debut for Santos last November, at the age of 16, and has scored five goals in nine league appearances for the club in the Brazilian top-flight.

"Real Madrid C. F. and Santos Futebol Clube have agreed that Rodrygo Goes will play his football at Real Madrid when he reaches the legal age requirement," the Spanish side said on their website (https://www.realmadrid.com/en/).

"Although the player would be able to play for our club as of January 2019, the agreement in place sets out that he will join the squad in July of that year."

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed but media reports suggest the Champions League winners have paid €45 million (S$70.5 million) for Goes.
