SINGAPORE - A sublime scissor kick from substitute Khairul Nizam helped the LionsXII to preserve their unbeaten home record in the Malaysia Super League (MSL) on Saturday.
The forward scored in the dying minutes to salvage a 1-1 draw with Selangor at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
At home this season, Fandi's charges have now won seven and drawn three of their 10 matches so far, netting 22 goals and conceding 10.
Selangor's goal came in the 59th minute when Bunyamin Umar found time and space on the right flank and whipped in a pin-point cross for Afiq Azmi to emphatically head past Izwan Mahbud.
With the LionsXII looking toothless in front of attack, coach Fandi Ahmad sent on Nizam in an effort to draw level. And in the 88th minute, he repaid the faith as he produced a spectacular goal.
Faritz Hameed swung in a cross from the right flank and Nizam rose and twisted his body to connect with a powerful scissors kick to leave Selangor's goalkeeper Norazlan Razali stunned in goal.
The LionsXII will next travel to Kuching to face Sarawak on Wednesday.
