Football: Lions to take on Qatar before Asian Cup qualifier against Turkmenistan

SINGAPORE - The national football squad is set to take on Qatar in a friendly match in Doha on Oct 5, in preparation for its 2019 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup Group E qualifier against Turkmenistan five days later on Oct 10.

Both matches will be played away from home, with the clash with Turkmenistan to be played out at the Kopetdag Stadium in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Singapore coach V. Sundram Moorthy said: "Preparations in Qatar will be key for the tough away AFC Asian Cup qualifier match against Turkmenistan. The international friendly against Qatar will not be easy, but I believe that it will serve as a good warmup for us before the qualification game."

The friendly against Qatar will be played at 12am (5am, Singapore time) and the clash in Turkmenistan will be at 10pm (1am, Singapore time).
