More than 30,000 tickets for the Oct 14 football friendly between Japan and Brazil at the National Stadium have been snapped up.

Match promoter World Sport Group (WSG), in a statement released on Tuesday, said that more than 90 per cent of the Category 1 and 2 tickets ($180 and $110 respectively) have been sold since they went on sale on Sept 4.

Category 3 and 4 tickets, which cost $70 and $40 respectively, are also selling fast. There are also tickets for children under the age of 16, priced at $25 and $45.

WSG also announced that they are extending the promotional discount for fans who purchased tickets to last month's Singapore Selection v Juventus game till Sept 21. These fans get to enjoy a $20 discount on Japan-Brazil tickets. To purchase the discounted tickets, they have to contact the Sports Hub Tix call centre (6333-5000) or bring their tickets to the Sports Hub Tix box office.

Tickets for the match can be purchased at Sports Hub Tix outlets, all SingPost locations or via www.sportshubtix.sg.

Said Malcolm Thorpe, WSG's vice president of sports development and events: "We knew this match would be popular for football fans in Singapore and we have been pleased with rapid take-up of tickets in the first two weeks of sales.

"This is a world-class match that is truly fitting for the venue and it will be fantastic that so many people will be able to experience the big match atmosphere."
