With less than a month before the new Malaysia Super League (MSL) season kicks off, the LionsXII are embarking on their final preparations with a series of football friendlies in the coming weeks.

Fandi Ahmad's side will face Terengganu on Friday night at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium before flying off to the Maldives later this month to compete in the week-long Pomis Cup (President of Maldives Invitational Soccer Cup).

The Jan 21-29 tournament will see the LionsXII, who finished eighth in last year's standings, face local sides New Radiant FC and Maziya and MSL team PDRM.

The LionsXII will also open their MSL campaign against PDRM on Feb 7 at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

More information such as fixture dates, match details and the travelling Lions XII squad make-up will be announced at a later date.

Meanwhile, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) also announced two friendlies for S-League side Courts Young Lions over the next week. The 20th season of Singapore's domestic league is slated to begin in March.

Coached by former national captain Aide Iskandar, the Under-23 team - which will make up the bulk of the SEA Games side that is gunning for a gold medal on home soil later this year - will face Malaysian clubs Johor Darul Takzim II and Pahang this Saturday and next Wednesday respectively at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

Both matches are scheduled for 7pm and admission is free.
