Alan Pardew isn't the most beloved figure on Tyneside at the moment after presiding over a miserable start to the new Barclays Premier League season, but the Newcastle United manager's lack of popularity was laid bare on Thursday morning.

Watch as Pardew, after one of his team's goals in the 2-0 League Cup win over Manchester City, tries to celebrate with his backroom staff. And failing miserably.

As his ecstatic staff rushed to hug each other, poor Pardew was conveniently ignored as he raised his right hand in a futile attempt to score a high-five.

At least Newcaslte are on the up - the League Cup upset over the defending champions was their third win on the trot, after registering consecutive victories in the Premier League over Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
