The Singapore Sports Hub's Festival of Football (FoF) will introduce new elements to engage fans as the World Cup reaches its climax. The fiesta, held at the OCBC Square until July 30, will line up new musical acts from the National Youth Council, rock band Islandeer and aspiring rapper Axel Brizzy.

There will also be a new permanent display of Fifa World Cup 2018 match balls at the festival.

These additions will complement the existing offerings at the Sports Hub, which include daily lunchtime movie screenings - films like Kallang Roar, Goal and Bend It Like Beckham are available - until next Sunday. Free popcorn is also provided while stocks last.

Graduate Lee Meow Ping, 24, felt the variety and selection of activities and musical performances at the FoF made it an attractive destination for fans to catch the live broadcast of World Cup matches.

She said: "The activities allow us to participate in some sporting fun and enjoy musical performances before watching the matches with our families and friends.

"The variety allows us to bring all our friends from different backgrounds to enjoy it together. There is no fear of anyone being bored from the lack of entertainment."

For Xue Jing Guo, watching the World Cup at the FoF - which drew more than 20,000 spectators in the first two weeks since the tournament began on June 14 - with his family has been a weekly affair.

The 33-year-old project manager said: "I bring my wife and kids to the FoF every week to enjoy the live screenings and activities.

"We are excited to participate in the festival's Ultimate Football Family contest where we may win a trip to see Arsenal play in England."

The Ultimate Football Family contest winners will be notified today. The grand prize will be flights and accommodation for two to London, Paris or Madrid as well as two tickets to watch Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain or Atletico Madrid at a home league match next season.
